Stratford Chess Club.
Online Swiss Tournament Rules.
Competition Organiser: Richard Buxton. (richard.buxton@talktalk.net)
Chess.com user name: Richardb58.
1) The Stratford Chess Club Swiss tournament is played on the Chess.com website and all results and fixtures published weekly on the Stratfordchess.com Club website and on the the Chess.com “Stratford Chess Club” area.
2) All participants must be members of the Chess.com - Stratford Chess Club.
3) Games are played on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7:30pm as indicated by the weekly published Round Pairings.
4) The first player named for each game will play White. This player will be responsible for contacting their opponent and setting up the challenge on Chess.com.
5) A full list of mobile phone numbers for participating members is on the Stratfordchess.com website within the members’ area of the site. A full list of Chess.com user names is on the Chess.com “Stratford Chess Club” website area.
6) It is recommended that a text message is sent to your opponent 5 minutes before the start of play to confirm that both players are ready. Alternately a phone or video call can be made.
7) Where players are not online and available to play when required, the game will be forfeited and the opponent awarded a Win. If a player cannot play on a Wednesday evening for any reason they may make a request to their opponent for a different day and time to be used. This must however, be during the same week as the original game. Notification of a change from the Wednesday evening fixture must be sent to the competition organiser.
8) Each game will be played over a time period of 60 minutes per player plus 10 seconds per move. (This is not a Standard time control on Chess.com and must be set up manually using the custom time control button).
9) All games must be set to graded. This will allow checks to be made if disputes are encountered during or after each game.
10) All results will be recorded directly from the Chess.com website. All players must therefore ensure they are “friends” on the site with the competition organiser.
11) Results and Pairings will be published on the Saturday before the next round of the competition each week.
12) If, due to exceptional circumstances, a player wishes to take a half point bye in any round except the final round, a requested must be made to the organiser before the pairings for the round are published. Failure to do this will result in a loss being recorded for the player.
13) All players are required to follow the Chess.com rules of fair play which are published on the Chess.com website.
14) To give players an ‘Over The Board’ experience players are encouraged to set up and use a free account on Google Duo which allows free unlimited video calls. Players can then see and communicate directly with their opponent before and after the game and see their opponent as the game develops.
15) In the case of disputes the Competition Organiser’s decision will be final.
